POSITION OVERVIEW
Are you passionate about creating fun, safe, and inclusive experiences for children and families? The City of Maple Ridge is seeking enthusiastic Recreation Leaders who enjoy guiding children through play, social interaction, and group activities. As a Recreation Leader 2, you’ll help deliver engaging programs for children aged 0–12 in both indoor and outdoor settings. You’ll lead play-based sessions, themed activities, and licensed afterschool childcare, while ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Some knowledge of the fundamentals of program leadership and instruction of recreation programs.
Some knowledge of the rules, regulations, procedures and policies governing the work.
Ability to provide leadership and instruction for special events, programs, camps and other activities.
Ability to work as part of a team, communicating and collaborating well with others
Ability to lead and communicate effectively with program participants.
Skill in the operation of equipment used in the work.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of Grade 10 supplemented by courses related to the work, plus some related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
LICENCES AND CERTIFICATES
Standard First Aid and CPR – Level C.
HOURS OF WORK
This is an auxiliary position with no ongoing schedule of hours (Hours of work are governed by Schedule B (C, J) of the Collective Agreement alongside the Letter of Understanding for Workers in Children's/Youth Services and Recreation Access).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Food Safe Certificate
• 20 Hours of training certification related to working with children
• High Five Training - Principals of Healthy Child Development
