POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Investment Attraction Advisor is a market-facing, business development–focused role responsible for generating, managing, and advancing a robust pipeline of investment opportunities for the City of Maple Ridge. The primary focus of this position is investment attraction—including lead generation, prospecting, inquiry response, proposal development, and direct B2B engagement with developers, investors, site selectors, and business decision-makers.
The role spends the majority of its time proactively identifying and pursuing investment opportunities, promoting the City’s value proposition, and positioning Maple Ridge as a competitive, investment-ready location for residential, mixed-use, industrial, and employment-generating development. This includes building and maintaining a strong sales funnel, managing prospect pipelines, responding to investor inquiries, developing tailored proposals and opportunity packages, and conducting meetings, presentations, and site visits.
The Investment Attraction Advisor works closely with the City’s internal departments, to support the transition of qualified prospects into active projects, ensuring a coordinated and seamless experience for investors as opportunities advance.
This role is well-suited to a results-driven professional with strong sales, relationship management, and market development expertise, who is energized by outbound engagement, business development, and converting leads into tangible investment outcomes that support housing delivery, economic diversification, and job creation.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Economic Development, Business Administration, Commerce, Urban Planning, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive experience in economic development, investment attraction, or business development, preferably within a municipal or public-sector environment.
- Demonstrated experience in market research, investment attraction, or business case development.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License and ability to travel as required.
- Certified Economic Developer (Ec.D.) designation, or eligibility for certification through the Economic Developers Association of Canada (EDAC), considered an asset.
