POSITION OVERVIEW:
Join the City of Maple Ridge and be at the forefront of technical and administrative engineering innovation! As a valued member of our team, you'll play a crucial role in coordinating our dynamic energy management program. Collaborate with visionary leaders in developing ambitious goals, innovative strategies, and comprehensive plans to reduce utilities, gas, and hydro consumption in our City's facilities. Your work will involve studying the feasibility and processes needed to enhance building energy efficiencies for our diverse range of City-owned facilities. Showcase your expertise by recommending and implementing energy reduction projects and alternatives that make a tangible impact. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of a Diploma in Building Technology or a related discipline including courses in energy management, and considerable related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
· Considerable knowledge of the rules, regulations, standards and policies applicable to the work.
· Considerable knowledge of energy efficient principles, methods, practices, strategies, technologies, equipment and systems as they relate to the work performed.
· Some knowledge of material and labour costs related to the work.
- Ability to coordinate and implement an energy reduction program, and to liaise with City staff and contractors engaged in projects.
· Ability to conduct technical studies and to recommend goals, strategies, plans and projects.
· Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
· Ability to prepare and maintain records, correspondence, reports, recommendations and cost estimates; and to recommend and monitor budgets.
· Ability to coordinate and oversee energy improvement projects carried out by contractors.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts.
· Skill in the use of equipment used in the work.

LICENCES AND CERTIFICATES
Class 5 driving licence for the province of British Columbia
HOURS OF WORK
80 hours bi-weekly
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Masters designation in business, planning, sustainability or appropriate field
· Registered Professional Engineer
· Registered Engineering Technologist
· Certified Energy Manager
· BCIT Sustainable Energy Management Associate (SEMAC)
· UBC Masters in Clean Energy
The certifications below will be considered an asset:
· Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation through the Association of Energy Engineers
· LEED Professional Accreditation
· Maintenance and management of electrical and lighting systems (BCIT)
· BOMA Building Operator e-Energy training (Maintenance and management of mechanical systems including HVAC systems and cooling plants)
· Prosci Change Management Certification Courses.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This is a temporary full time position for approximately two (2) years, which may be concluded or extended due to unforseen circumstances.
