POSITION OVERVIEW:

Join us as a Human Resources Advisor on our Integrated Talent Management team, where your expertise will be pivotal in shaping the attraction, development, and retention of top talent. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager of Integrated Talent Management, you’ll play a dual role as both a tactical implementer and strategic innovator. From leading full-cycle recruitment to designing and delivering impactful learning and engagement programs, you’ll help elevate our workforce through overarching human resources strategic plans while honing your own professional and business acumen. Your contributions will directly support the organization’s talent strategies, empowering employees at all levels to reach their full potential.

WHAT YOU’LL BE GETTING UP TO:

  • Managing the full-cycle talent acquisition process including sourcing, job posting, interviewing, assessing, selecting candidates, extending offers, and onboarding.
  • Contributing to retaining and growing internal staff by providing training of new employee orientation, leadership development, mentorship program, change management, performance management, goal-setting, teambuilding, and organizational alignment resources that guide the organization in daily operations and business practices.
  • Ensuring the quality of classroom and technology-based training and professional development activities including needs assessment, curriculum development, course design/planning and logistics, content delivery, and development of related training materials.
  • Establishing and building trusting relationships with key stakeholders; providing subject matter expertise to clients, helping to identify the nature of specific issues they are facing and enabling client-driven solutions.
  • Providing service excellence for our clients by instituting processes including “best practices” involved in optimizing the employee experience across the City.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of a diploma in human resources (or related) preferred or equivalent combination of directly related education, training and experience, supplemented by courses in a related field.
  • 5 years of experience working as a Human Resources Advisor with a focus on selection and retention.
  • Experience using HRIS and/or Applicant Tracking Systems is a must.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is a strong asset.
  • Experience working as a Human Resources Business partner.

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Excellent knowledge of recruitment and selection practices.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of HR programs, policies, procedures, and collective agreements.
  • Knowledge of applicant tracking system functionality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and manage sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong ability to interpret human resources policies and collective agreement into meaningful support for management.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization and with the public and to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to travel to different locations (within Maple Ridge) as required.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong organizational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to perform research, gather, compile and assemble a variety of statistics in various formats and information for reports.
  • Ability to write clear, concise reports and communications materials.
  • Ability to operate successfully in a high paced, high volume office environment, work under pressure with constant interruptions, with ever-changing priorities, yet able to manage competing levels of urgency.
  • Ability to use computer software such as Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Outlook, Internet, and Applicant Tracking Systems.

LICENCES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Class 5 driver’s Licence valid in the Province of British Columbia.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • CPHR Designation
  • Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Adult Education, Leadership, or combination of education and related experience;
  • 5+ years of HR generalist and talent acquisition experience. Prior experience in a support or lead role facilitating training programs and delivering learning and development strategies is preferred.
  • A bonus would be deep experience in instructional design and expertise in career development and performance management.
  • Passion for developing an organizational culture that is rooted in the HR service standard of “we care”.

HOURS OF WORK:

80 Hours biweekly
